Issue of local development have acquired a key role in the promotion of equal opportunities and gender mainstreaming. The effective enhancement of development conditions get through also to lager involvement of women in working life, which is giving an important contribution to socio-economic growth.

According to this perspective, project W.In D. – Women in Development – aims to promote and consolidate practical strategies to support the participation of women in local development processes, elaborating a comparative analysis of relations between local development and equal opportunities. The main goal is to produce an integrated approach, shared by all project partners, supporting the integration of gender mainstreaming principle in local development.

At the same time, project W.In D. aims to reach a better knowledge of the theme of women and local development towards specific analysis and comparative research actions able to support the exchange of good practices within and between countries and to support the introduction of mainstreaming path in local development processes.

With the aim to achieve the sub mentioned objectives, the project foreseen the production of: Guidelines containing suggestions and recommendations to encourage women participation in local development processes, the production of Guidelines containing suggestions and recommendations to promote the integration of gender mainstreaming principle in local development processes, the planning of a European intervention Model and the elaboration of a Best Practices Catalogue.
